ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: DANIELLE ROWE by Sophie C
There is always a new opportunity waiting close by, as ex-student Danielle Rowe has experienced.
She says, “Dance is everything to me. But after leaving school I was told by my dance teachers to create a career for myself that I could fall back on in case I didn’t make it. This was never the plan for me! My GCSE grades were very good; so, A levels were an option for me. During these studies I tirelessly travelled the country training and always trying to better myself and my skills. At this time, I was winning numerous national titles and competing a lot within the UK so A levels seemed second best. I always wanted more from my dance. After my A-Levels I secured my position at Durham University to study Primary Education. During my time at university, all my dance my dreams came to fruition.
“My dreams came true when I had an invitation to represent my country and to travel to America to compete as part of Team GB; we brought back the silver! I have also travelled to Italy and Paris to compete against other dancers of all nationalities. Covid then hit and the dance world was completely frozen. Dance was stripped of all its beauty and became lonely behind a camera in our living rooms.
Since the world opened, my time has been filled by sparking a passion for dance in young minds. I have produced national and world champions and my career is better than I could have ever dreamed of.”
