"It has been an absolute honour to lead such an exceptional school..." an open letter by Lindsay Oyston, Executive Head Teacher
As you may be aware, I am stepping down as Head Teacher for health-related reasons. This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make as I have truly loved being part of this school community for the last 26 years.
As the school moves into next academic year there will be some changes at senior leadership level. From a Trust perspective, Simon White is retiring as CEO and Louise Spellman will be CEO of the newly merged Trust. I will be taking a role within the Trust on a part time basis. We wish Mr White a long and happy retirement after 37 years service to education.
As a school we say goodbye to Deputy Head Teacher, Stephen Morrison, who has worked at Egglescliffe since 2009 in various leadership roles. We are incredibly sad to see Mr Morrison leave Egglescliffe as he has been such an important part of our success in the last 15 years. We wish him the best of luck in his future.
My time here has been filled with cherished memories, professional opportunities and the privilege of working with brilliant students, dedicated staff and supportive families.
I am delighted that Mr Gittins will be leading the school from September, supported by Deputy Head Teachers, Miss Richardson and Mr Henderson. He has been a leader at Egglescliffe for some time and has formed strong relationships with the students, staff and families. I have no doubt the school will continue to thrive under his leadership.
My time here has been filled with cherished memories, professional opportunities and the privilege of working with brilliant students, dedicated staff and supportive families. I am incredibly proud of what we achieved together. The growth and success of the students at Egglescliffe has always been my greatest reward. In my opinion, what makes this school a truly special place to work, is the people within the school community. Students, families, staff and governors make Egglescliffe a school like no other. They work in partnership to provide opportunities that transform lives through the creation of a nurturing and challenging educational environment. Indeed, this is the reason that I chose Egglescliffe for my own children. So, although I may not be part of the school as a member of staff moving forward, I will still be part of the community as a parent seeing the magic at work each and every day.
I will be eternally grateful for the trust, support and kindness you have shown me over the years. It has been an absolute honour to lead such an exceptional school.
Kind Regards,
Lindsay Oyston
